We are learning ways to make our writing more interesting. One of the strategies we learned was to use triple scoop words. Read each sentence on the worksheet and replace the word “went” with a more interesting word. Make sure you think about how each animal moves so that the sentence makes sense. Math: Geometry Lesson #3-Watch this video to help you understand the math language: face, edges, and vertices. Then complete these two worksheets to practice your understanding of the faces, edges, and vertices of 2D and 3D shapes. Next week we will be creating a project, using our measurement and geometry learning. Watch for it!
Language Arts: Read for 20 minutes. This is your last poem to write for grade 3. Please think of your favourite animal, maybe a chameleon, and then write a poem about that animal. Here are the 2 sheets you need to guide in your poetry writing. An adjective is a word that describes, or tells more about a person, place, or thing. For example, The prickly (adjective), green (adjective) chameleon (noun) ran up the tall (adjective) palm tree.

Friday, June 5 :
Math: Geometry Lesson #2-I can name cylinder, cone, sphere, pyramid, cube in my environment.
Today's lesson and practice will be done online. Go to IXL Math Page and complete the Geometry Lesson (W.1, W.2, W.3, W.4). If you cannot complete those lessons, please watch this video about how 3D shapes work and what they are called.
Now choose one practice activity, post a photo on FreshGrade:
1. Go on a shapes walk around the neighbourhood. What 2D and 3D shapes can you find? Take pictures or draw the shapes you find and label them.
2.Find five 3D shapes around the house and yard, like boxes and cans. What math words that you learned today on IXL, can you use to describe them? Write down your thinking.
3. Build a 3D 'net' or shape out of toothpicks, rolled paper, cardboard rolls, straws, sticks, tape, playdough, marshmallows. Which shape did you build? Take picture and post on FreshGrade.
Language Arts: This activity can be done by every person in your family! You will be creating a simple viewing window out of Popsicle sticks and then using that window to choose one tiny area of your yard to focus in on to carefully observe. Here is a video to watch to help you make a viewing window.
1. Draw in detail 10 things you see inside your viewing window.
2. Underneath you can write at least five interesting sentences about what you saw while you were observing and drawing.

3. Afterwards, draw and color a detailed picture of your rock and write about your rock finding experience. You can do this in your LA notebook or print a copy of the worksheet.

Remember that when you multiply think “double double.” For example 6 x 4 = double 6 is 12, double 12 is 24. When multiplying by 5, skip counting is also a good strategy to use. Print the worksheet to complete or answer questions in your Math notebook. Math Worksheet

Math: Today we will continue on with our Friday Math by thinking about what units of measure to use. First, watch this video to learn more about the metric system units of measuring how tall or long something is. In the video pay attention to which is smallest, medium, and longest unit of measure: millimeters, centimeters, and kilometers.

Language Arts: Today we will learn to write a Cinquain Poem. Please watch this video lesson on Cinquain Poetry. The poetry page the teacher is using in the video is different than the one in your poetry book. Use your poetry book to plan your own poem and then upload to Fresh Grade. I can't wait to see yours.

Math: Geometry Lesson #2-I can name cylinder, cone, sphere, pyramid, cube in my environment.
Today's lesson and practice will be done online. Go to IXL Math Page and complete the Geometry Lesson (W.1, W.2, W.3, W.4). If you cannot complete those lessons, please watch this video about how 3D shapes work and what they are called.
Now choose one practice activity, post a photo on FreshGrade:
1. Go on a shapes walk around the neighbourhood. What 2D and 3D shapes can you find? Take pictures or draw the shapes you find and label them.
2.Find five 3D shapes around the house and yard, like boxes and cans. What math words that you learned today on IXL, can you use to describe them? Write down your thinking.
3. Build a 3D 'net' or shape out of toothpicks, rolled paper, cardboard rolls, straws, sticks, tape, playdough, marshmallows. Which shape did you build? Take picture and post on FreshGrade.
Language Arts: This activity can be done by every person in your family! You will be creating a simple viewing window out of Popsicle sticks and then using that window to choose one tiny area of your yard to focus in on to carefully observe. 3. Afterwards, draw and color a detailed picture of your rock and write about your rock finding experience. You can do this in your LA notebook or print a copy of the worksheet.

Remember that when you multiply think “double double.” For example 6 x 4 = double 6 is 12, double 12 is 24. When multiplying by 5, skip counting is also a good strategy to use. Print the worksheet to complete or answer questions in your Math notebook. Math Worksheet

1. Reading: Print a new weekly reading log and read 20 minutes a day. Weekly Reading Log
2. Writing: Journal Write - Write about a topic of your choice. Ideas could be about your weekend, a movie you watched, a book you have read, a game you have played. Aim for at lease 5 sentences. Be sure to edit for capitals and periods. Upload your journal to Freshgrade.
3. Spelling: In your LA notebook make 2 columns, one for short "e" words like egg and one for long "e" words like "eat."
Read each of the 15 spelling words given and decide which column the word belongs and then read the 8 words at the bottom of the page and choose the 2 short "e" and 2 long "e" words and include them in the correct column. Check your answers when done.

Math: Today we will continue on with our Friday Math by thinking about what units of measure to use. First, watch this video to learn more about the metric system units of measuring how tall or long something is. In the video pay attention to which is smallest, medium, and longest unit of measure: millimeters, centimeters, and kilometers.

Language Arts: Today we will learn to write a Cinquain Poem. Please watch this video lesson on Cinquain Poetry.
